Kiya Pilon
Law Clerk
Kiya joined Meunier Carrier Lawyers as a full-time Law Clerk in May 2023 and has quickly become an indispensable member of the team. She is recognized as a rising star in the firm, having taken the lead on numerous complex civil and estate litigation matters.
Born and raised in Timmins, Ontario, Kiya is a proud graduate of O’Gorman High School, where she earned her Ontario Secondary School Diploma with honours. During her teenage years, she gained valuable administrative and customer service experience working as a logistics and procurement assistant for a global mining technology company.
Kiya graduated from the Law Clerk program at Canadore College in 2023, earning her diploma with high honours. As part of her training, she completed a placement at a local law firm, where she focused primarily on family law files.
At Meunier Carrier Lawyers, Kiya’s responsibilities are diverse and essential to the firm’s operations. Her work includes:
Managing and organizing client files
Conducting client meetings
Drafting pleadings, correspondence, and executive file summaries
Preparing files for examination for discovery
Overseeing pre-trial and trial deadlines
Coordinating undertakings and follow-ups post-discovery
Communicating with clients, counsel, court staff, and other firms
Attending examinations for discovery alongside lawyers
Assisting the firm’s bookkeeper as needed
Kiya is proficient in Leap Legal Software and has played a key role in mentoring and training fellow staff members on the platform. She is known for her strong writing skills, attention to detail, and commitment to client service.
A dedicated professional, Kiya is also a law clerk member of the Ontario Trial Lawyers Association. She actively participates in OTLA conferences in Toronto and takes part in the firm’s professional retreats, including recent gatherings in Punta Cana, Toronto, and the Dante Club in Timmins.
Kiya is engaged in the firm’s ongoing education initiatives and plays an active role in team training sessions and strategy huddles throughout the year. She takes a particular interest in identifying emerging trends and best practices in legal correspondence and reporting, ensuring the firm’s processes remain current and effective.
Known for her professionalism, compassion, and tireless work ethic, Kiya consistently goes above and beyond for the team and the firm’s clients.
