Kaitlin Wheeler began her journey with Meunier Carrier Lawyers in 2014 as a Legal Assistant through a co-operative education placement. Since then, she has remained a valued member of the team, working during her university summer breaks and joining the firm full-time in the fall of 2020. Today, Kaitlin holds a multifaceted role as Office Manager, Senior Legal Assistant, and Law Student, playing an integral part in the day-to-day operations and long-term vision of the firm.
Kaitlin holds a post-secondary degree in Sociology and Criminal Justice from the University of Guelph. In 2017, she was selected to participate in a prestigious summer abroad program at Oxford University, where she studied criminal law. Her legal experience also includes time with the Timmins Police Service, where she gained practical insights into law enforcement and the justice system.
Kaitlin is passionate about helping individuals who are vulnerable or have experienced victimization. She is particularly dedicated to the firm’s work with children, assisting Jay Meunier and David Carrier on personal injury cases involving minors and files handled on behalf of the Office of the Children’s Lawyer. She is the lead assistant on all family law matters and tort claims involving children, ensuring that the firm's youngest clients receive informed, compassionate, and effective support.
Over the years, Kaitlin has observed and contributed to files in numerous forums, including the Ontario Court of Justice, Superior Court of Justice, Licence Appeal Tribunal, former Indian Residential Schools Adjudication Secretariat, former Criminal Injuries Compensation Board, as well as at Examinations for Discovery.
Known as the firm's multitasker and most versatile team member, Kaitlin plays a behind-the-scenes but essential role in supporting the lawyers across a broad range of practice areas. She brings strong leadership, organizational acumen, and a keen legal mind to her work.
Kaitlin also plays an active role in the broader community. She is a Board Member with the Timmins Chamber of Commerce and sits on the Program Advisory Committee for the Office Administration Program at Northern College. Kaitlin is a part-time faculty member at Northern College, where she teaches Conflict Management and Dispute Resolution, having previously taught Career Planning and Professional Skills. She enjoys yoga, walking local trails with her golden doodle Luna, and paddleboarding on nearby lakes. Her enthusiasm for exploration and wellness complements her professional drive and her commitment to excellence at Meunier Carrier Lawyers.
