Matthew Graine

Professional and Personal Background:
Matthew Graine is a bilingual lawyer who was called to the Bar in Ontario in June 2026. Prior to his call, Matthew joined Meunier Carrier Lawyers as a legal assistant in February 2021 and worked on a full-time basis until pursuing his law school studies, which he began in September of 2022. Matthew is developing a practice in personal injury litigation (motor vehicle collisions and slip/trip and falls), disability benefits, employment law, commercial litigation, family law, child protection, and matters involving the enforcement of child and spousal support obligations through Ontario’s FRO (Family Responsibility Office) as well as wills, estates and estate litigation. In addition, Matthew assists Jay and Dave in representing municipalities businesses on a wide range of legal issues.
Matthew was born in Timmins and raised in Smooth Rock Falls and subsequently returned to Timmins in his pre-teen years.
In July 2025, Matthew returned to Meunier Carrier Lawyers to complete his articles following his legal studies.
During his articles with Meunier Carrier Lawyers, Matthew supported the lawyers at all stages of a matter, including conducting legal research drafting pleadings and submissions, preparing correspondences, and assisting with hearing and trial preparation. Matthew further gained experience assisting the lawyers with a wide variety of matters, including civil litigation, employment disputes, family and child protection matters, and administrative proceedings.
Matthew was also the lead member of the team who would spend considerable time along with the lawyers’ preparing clients for examinations for discovery and other important steps in the case. Matthew actively supported the lawyers by closely working with many of the clients who have suffered Catastrophic Impairments.
Matt can be described as a person who shows much dedication and possesses excellent communication and analytical skills. He is a formidable at teamwork and works well with co-workers and goes the extra mile for the firm. The firm is very fortunate to have Matt form part of the team.

Speaking Engagements & Legal Education:
Matthew has presented at high schools, colleges and community educational presentations in Timmins, Ontario. In Spring 2026, Matthew worked closely with assisting Jay Meunier to organise the Cochrane Law Association Bench & Bar Conference, with a primary focus on coordinating the mock trial component of the event.
He has assisted Jay Meunier with organizing and teaching a weekly law course at Northern College. He has further assisted Jay Meunier with teaching and guiding LPP (Law Practice Program) students through Toronto Metropolitan University.
Matthew has been an active participant and organizer at the firm’s ongoing in-house training sessions in the fields in which Meunier Carrier practices.
