David Carrier

Practice Highlights:

David Carrier is a bilingual lawyer who was called to the Bar in Ontario in 2018. His practice spans a broad range of legal areas, including personal injury litigation, insurance disputes, disability benefits, employment law (for both employers and employees), commercial litigation, family law, child protection matters, as well as wills, estates, and estate litigation. In addition, David acts along with Jay in representing municipalities on a wide range of legal issues.

David represents clients across Ontario in claims involving motor vehicle collisions, ATV and snowmobile accidents, train and aviation incidents, slip and trip-and-fall cases, dog bites, wrongful death, negligence, disability claims (including CPP), civil fraud, breach of contract, and privacy/intrusion violations.

David began working with Jay Meunier’s legal team in 2015, articled at the firm in 2017, and was called to the Bar in 2018. He became an associate with Meunier Carrier Lawyers in June 2018. On September 30, 2020, he co-founded Meunier Carrier Lawyers alongside Jay Meunier and their dedicated support staff.

David regularly appears before various courts and tribunals, including:

• Licence Appeal Tribunal

• Provincial Offences Court

• Various administrative tribunals

Since September 2023, David has served as a panel lawyer with the Office of the Children’s Lawyer, representing children in both family law and child protection proceedings.

While in law school, David was awarded the Emond Harnden LLP Prize for the highest standing in Labour Law I, and the Professional Training Entrance Scholarship for submitting the most outstanding admissions portfolio.

Speaking Engagements & Legal Education:

David is a sought-after speaker and has presented across Ontario at high schools, colleges, professional development events, and continuing legal education programs. He has contributed to the Sudbury Colloquium as both a speaker and organizer in the areas of civil litigation and family law. He has also presented on the intersection of law and technology.

He has co-organized a weekly law course at Northern College alongside Jay Meunier.

David is committed to lifelong learning and participates annually in professional development programs, including:

• Ontario Trial Lawyers Association (OTLA) Spring and Fall Conferences (since 2017)

• The Advocates’ Society’s Tricks of the Trade Conference (since 2019)
