PRACTICE HIGHLIGHTS:
David’s practice focuses on personal injury litigation, insurance disputes, disability benefits, commercial litigation, employment law for both employers and employees, wills, estates and estate litigation, family law, and child protection matters.
David’s litigation practice includes representing clients throughout the Province of Ontario in various types of collisions including motor vehicle, ATV, trains and planes. In addition, David handles cases involving slip/trip-and-fall accidents, injuries resulting from negligence, wrongful deaths, dog bites, disability claims, CPP disability, civil fraud matters, breach of contracts, and breach of intrusion matters.
David has been part of Jay Meunier’s team since 2015 and subsequently articled at his firm in 2017. In June 2018, David became part of Team Meunier Carrier as an associate lawyer. On September 30, 2020, David along with Jay Meunier and their support staff formed a new law firm, namely, MEUNIER CARRIER LAWYERS.
David has appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice, the Superior Court of Justice, the Federal Court, the Licence Appeal Tribunal, the Provincial Offences Court and has also handled administrative tribunal matters.
Since September of 2023, David has been a panel agent for the Office of the Children’s Lawyer (OCL) in connection with representing children in family law disputes and child protection matters.
David graduated from law school at the University of Ottawa. Prior to entering law school, David earned a bachelor’s degree in Law and Justice at Laurentian University. During law school, David earned the Emond Harnden LLP Prize for the highest standing in the Labour Law I course as well as the Professional Training Entrance Scholarship for having the most outstanding admissions portfolio, exceeding the faculty’s expectations.
David has been a guest speaker across Ontario at high schools, colleges, workplaces, public events and continuing legal education programs. David has been a past speaker in the advocacy and civil litigation sections at the Sudbury Colloquium and also played a key role in organizing the civil litigation and family law program. David has a particular interest in connection with technology and the law and has been a keynote speaker on the topic and various programs.
Currently, David is co-teaching along with Jay Meunier a law course on a weekly basis at Northern College.
David partakes in various continuing legal education programs throughout the year. He has been attending the Ontario Trial Lawyers Association Spring and Fall educational conference since 2017 and the Advocates’ Society Tricks of the Trade conference since 2019. He also attends the annual Colloquium Sudbury legal education program each year and has done so both as a participant and speaker since 2017.
David is fluent in English and French and practises in both languages.
In his spare time, David also enjoys playing hockey, golfing, travelling, staying active and attending NHL and NBA games.
