
Jessica Howson
Student
Jessica Howson joined Meunier Carrier Lawyers in the winter of 2020 as a co-operative education student. Following the successful completion of her placement, she was hired as a legal assistant and has since become an integral part of the firm.
Jessica is known for her versatility and reliability, regularly assisting the lawyers with a broad range of tasks including undertakings, pleadings, training initiatives, bookkeeping, emergency file management, and appointment scheduling. She plays a pivotal role in supporting clients involved in motor vehicle accident claims, handling both Accident Benefits matters and litigation against at-fault parties.
Her excellent organizational and time management skills have proven to be a significant asset to both the firm and its clients. Jessica actively participates in office training sessions and huddles, and serves on the firm’s training team for new staff members. She leads pre- and post-examination undertakings during the firm's Spring training sessions.
Jessica’s commitment to professional development is also reflected in her external involvement. She participated and volunteered at the Sudbury Colloquium legal education program in both 2023 and 2024. Most recently, she volunteered at the Bench & Bar Legal Symposium in Timmins on May 1, 2025, and took part in the event kickoff on April 30, 2025.
A proud Timmins native, Jessica has deep roots in the community and formerly competed in regional ice hockey.
During her time at Meunier Carrier Lawyers, Jessica has expanded her expertise in the areas of Civil Litigation and Family Law. In the spring of 2025, she earned an Honours Bachelor of Social Science degree from Laurentian University, majoring in Criminology with a minor in Psychology.
Jessica will begin her studies at the University of Ottawa Faculty of Law in the fall of 2025, with an expected graduation date in the spring of 2028. The firm is proud to support her continued journey in the legal profession.
