
Elena Lionello
Student
Elena graduated as Valedictorian and an Ontario Scholar from O'Gorman High School in June 2024. While attending OHS, she served as the Student Trustee for the Northeastern Catholic District School Board from 2022 to 2024. In this role, she actively advocated for student voices at both the board table and the provincial level. She also collaborated with peers through the Ontario Catholic School Trustee Association and the Ontario Student Trustee Association to develop and publish educational resources.
In the fall of 2024, Elena began pursuing a Bachelor of Political Science at McMaster University, specializing in Public Law and Judicial Studies, with the intention of graduating in the spring of 2028. At McMaster, she is an engaged member of both the Political Science Student Association and the Women in Pre-Law Society. She plans to pursue a law degree following the completion of her undergraduate studies.
Originally from Timmins, Elena is bilingual in French and English and holds a DELF certification. She was a committed athlete with the Timmins Selects Basketball program for seven years, earning three provincial medals during her career. In addition to competing, she has given back to the program as a coach and mentor for younger athletes.
Outside of her academic and extracurricular commitments, Elena enjoys spending time with friends, exploring the outdoors, and staying active in the gym with her former teammates.
